Responding to Recent Challenges in the Pastoral Care of Migrants in Europe

On Saturday 26 September the CCEE Plenary Assembly, this year in online mode, concluded with the approval of the Final Message to Europe. The European Bishops encourage peoples and nations not to shut themselves away, to look to tomorrow with a rediscovered confidence while walking together in the light of the Risen Christ and committing themselves to renewed solidarity in the knowledge that they are close to one another.

H.E. Card. Michael Czerny S.J., Undersecretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section, contributed to the meeting with a speech entitled Responding to Recent Challenges in the Pastoral Care of Migrants in Europe. The M&R Section invites Bishops to keep pursuing a constructive dialogue with governments, in order to contribute to the adoption of common decisions that are fairer and more supportive and to ensure that such decisions will establish new ways of managing forced or unfree migration in the years to come.

“Although this time in history is marked by contradictions, relativism, suspicion, and fear, we are all in the same boat, guided by the steadfast helmsman who is the master of human history: our Lord Jesus Christ.”
