In preparation for the Global Compact for safe, orderly and regular migration, the Fifth Thematic Session took place at the United Nations Office in Vienna, 4-5 September 2017.

The topic is: Smuggling of migrants, trafficking in persons and contemporary forms of slavery, including appropriate identification, protection, and assistance to migrants and trafficking victims.

Rev. Fr. Michael Czerny, Undersecretary of the Migrant and Refugee Section of the Holy See, is head of the Holy See Delegation to the Fifth Thematic Session.
